London Youth Rowing (LYR) are recruiting Rowing Session Coaches to support sessions at locations across London, in particular Thames Tradesmen Rowing Club (Chiswick) and Royal Docks Adventure (Newham).

Job Summary:

Session coaches are self employed rowing coaches, with the ability to work flexibly based on availability to work. They work with young people between 11-18yrs old at regular on-water and land sessions, and also at holiday learn to row courses. The role includes coaching beginners through to junior racing squads. 


  • Reporting to Head Coaches regarding session content and participant attendance
  • Maintaining LYR administration tasks relevant to your session
  • Coaching LYR participants at their appropriate level of rowing ability, creating a fun and safe environment to encourage development
  • Working independently and in a team with other LYR coaches, across London rowing sites
  • Helping manage and maintain LYR equipment

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Level 2 Rowing Coaching qualification desirable but not essential
  • Proof of relevant coaching experience
  • Experience of working on different bodies of water including tidal Thames will be required to work at West London hubs. Also will require relevant experience of launch driving
