London Youth Rowing (LYR) are recruiting Assistant Coaches to support sessions at Mossbourne Community Academy, Hackney. 

Job Summary:

The role includes both on-water and gym based coaching, working with a range of athletes from beginners through to athletes with high performance ambition. You will be based at the Royal Docks Adventure for on-water sessions, and Mossbourne Community Academy for gym based sessions.

Hour of work:

Saturday: 0730-1500, based at Royal Docks Adventure
Monday and Wednesday: 1600-1800, based at Mossbourne Community Academy 
Thursday and Friday: 1500-1700, based at Mossbourne Community Academy


  • Reporting to Head Coach regarding session content and participant attendance
  • Maintaining LYR administration tasks relevant to your session
  • Coaching LYR participants at their appropriate level of rowing ability, creating a fun and safe environment to encourage development
  • Working independently and in a team with other LYR coaches
  • Helping manage and maintain LYR equipment
  • Potential to attend Regattas and Events dependent on availability 

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Level 2 Rowing Coaching qualification desirable but not essential
  • Proof of relevant coaching experience
  • Experience of launch driving preferable
