Andy Smith, Programme Director Life Skills I’m not a rower by background, but I’ve always loved participating in sport, and I appreciate how valuable that experience has been for me – from playing Sunday League football since age 8, to my 5,000 mile SambaCycle adventure across Brazil in 2014! After 10 years as a CIMA management accountant with Tesco, Unilever and CBRE, I changed careers via the On Purpose Associate programme in 2015-16, with placements at Hackney Community Transport and GravityLight. I’ve now been working in the ‘sport for good’ sector since mid-2016 when I joined LYR and also became a Trustee for The Huracan Foundation. My motivation is to enable young people to reach their full potential through the power of sport. LYR’s Life Skills programmes are doing just that, which makes me proud to do my job every day.
