…an indoor club volunteer

You arrive at the London Regatta Centre  or other agreed venue to meet the LYR coach who will take you to the local school or youth club.  Sometimes you will travel directly to the school or club.img_86081

You meet with the indoor club leader (teacher or youth worker) and work together to agree your role for the session.  The indoor club leader usually plans the session unless it is a milestone day (competition, taster day or fitness assessment) when an LYR coach will take the lead.  You help the coach to set up the machines and any software required for the session, as well as help set up the laptop and take the register.  At the end of the session, the information gathered (registration, fitness assessment or competition results) is entered into the LYR database by you or another member of the team.

Teachers and youth clubs often encourage individual athletes to help with data collection.  This sort of activity counts towards the Junior Sports Leaders Award (JSLA).  You can work with these young people to ensure they understand their role in a session and to guide them through the JRSLA requirements.

These sessions take from 1-2 hours and may take place once or twice a week in a club.
