London Youth Rowing has two main functions. Firstly to get young people in London involved in healthy activity. Secondly, for those who’d like to take up rowing as a sport, we have installed top quality, professional coaches into a number of affiliated rowing clubs across London.
Whether you want to just have a bit of fun or indeed, if you’re more competitive and want to see how far you can progress, we at LYR want to accommodate everyone. We can take raw novices to international standard in just under two years and our junior women’s quad are currently National Champions.
Before that however, the first step is to enrol on a Learn to Row course at your nearest LYR centre. The Learn to Row courses run for six weeks on term-time Saturday afternoons from 1pm – 3pm and the cost is £20.
At the end of the course, you will hopefully have achieved the basics of technique to a standard that will enable you to row in a fine boat. From there you can join an LYR club’s novice programme where you can develop your skills and start racing as soon as you’re ready.
Email Matt for more information, the nearest LYR centre and the dates of the next courses.
