LYR is proud to celebrate two years of Row East London! (RoEL), a ground-breaking initiative for young people in the 10 East London Olympic and Gateway boroughs to significantly improve fitness, health and well-being.

RoEL!  was introduced to over 70 schools and youth clubs in the ten boroughs, and has encouraged thousands, including those with disabilities, to take part in an exciting programme of regular physical activity.  The initiative also strongly promotes pathways to on-water rowing and other sports.

See the press-release for more about the beginning of RoEL!.

The LYR team was delighted to hold the first RoEL! conference in January 2010. To read more about the conference and it’s findings, click here.

sportsenglandLYR is very grateful to Sport England; The McGrath Trust; The Weston Foundation; Amateur Rowing Association (ARA); Pro-Active East; Tower Hamlets NHS PCT; The Royal Docks Trust;  The Drapers’ Company; Metropolitan Police; and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, as well as many other organisations that have provided in-kind contributions (see press release for complete list) and made Row East London! happen.
