“How much is it to enter?”
It is £7.00 per person – so you pay for the competitor not the races. If you enter two categories (Year 10 and a Boat Race Relay) you pay for only one event (£7.00). If you enter either an individual or a team realy event you pay for just the one event (£7.00). Make cheques out to ‘London Youth Rowing’ and send to Matt Rostron, London Youth Rowing Ltd, Knowledge Dock Business Centre, University Way, London E16 2RD.

“How many kids can I bring?”
Bring as many as you can — ‘more the merrier’ — there is no restriction on how many individuals and teams you can enter.
“What are the age ranges for each year group?”
School Year 7

“Can I enter on the day?”
No. To ensure that the event runs to schedule we cannot accept entries on the day. Only ‘like for like’ substitutions will be allowed on the day.
“How do I enter?”

Does every competitor need parental or guardian consent?
Yes. Every competitor that races at NJIRC2012, whether in an individual event or in a team relay must provide evidence of guardian/parental consent. For individual entries, this is part of the Individual Entry and Consent Form. Group entries should include an Individual Consent Form signed by a parent or guardian for every competitor in the group (unless the group leader is authorised to sign on behalf of parents and guardians, in which case the signature of the authorised person on page 2 of the Group Entry Form is sufficient).
“How are the teams for the relay events made up?”
NB – Only complete teams can race on the day.
BOAT RACE RELAY – made up of a team of 8, either a team of boys or a team of girls. You can pick your team from years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. They do not have to be from the same year group. No mixed teams are allowed.
“How do the relay events work?”
Each relay team will use one rowing machine to cover the distance of the race. Competitors will change over on the machine as per the teams own race strategy. Each member of the team must row at least twice during the race. Any team member can hold the rowers feet on the machine; due to the lack of space on the race floor – they have to be part of the 8 person relay team.
“What time should I get there and when will it finish?”
The first race is at 10.00 am and we are aiming to finish before 18.00pm. Registration will be open at 8.30am.
This is London – if you live here, you will know how tricky it can be – if you don’t, you will be amazed how slow you can travel sometimes! Please allow enough time to get to the venue – PLEASE – SOONER the BETTER!
If you can use public transport at all we recommend that you do.
Please allow plenty of time to get to the venue and register before racing starts. The last race should finish at around 6pm.
“Where can I park?”
There will be free parking on a first come, first served basis – large coaches and mini buses are also able to park on site.
“When and where will the draw be appearing?”
The draw will appear on the London Youth Rowing / NJIRC website shortly after the closing date for entries on 10th March: www.londonyouthrowing.com/njirc
“Can we listen to iPods when we race?”
Yes, but please be aware that you may not hear directions and instructions and if the wire was to foul the wheels on the seat and you had to stop, you would not be allowed to re-race.
“What else is there to do at NJIRC?”
There will be plenty of activities to keep the competitors entertained when they are not racing, keep checking out the website to see who else is coming on the day. We can now announce that we will have our famous climbing wall there, you will be able to ‘sign in’ at the event on an electronics graffiti wall, play mini golf, use a giant wii game, learn parkour, take part in a Mossbourne Academy Talent id session, play tag rugby, raise funds for Sport Relief, ride BMX bikes and take part in lots of great games and challenges run for us by EDF Energy, ThamesTunnel, Henley River and Rowing Museum, The Challenge and Street Games.
“What are the prizes?”
There are Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for the top 3 places in each category, and also a ‘money can’t buy prize’ of the chance to follow The Boat Race live in a launch.
“When and where will the results be appearing?”
They will be posted on the day on boards in the centre of the hall, they will appear on this website as soon as possible after the event: www.londonyouthrowing.com/njirc and also on the London Youth Rowing Facebook page and on Twitter @LYRowing
“Will there be somewhere to buy food and drink?”
There will be some refreshments available for purchase at the venue. You are allowed to bring your own though.
