National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships


Race Rules

  1. Concept 2 Indoor Rowers will be used. With the resistance level set to their choice, but this cannot be changed during the race.
  2. Race Distance is Year 7 - 2 minutes, Year 8 - 3 minutes, Year 9 - 4 minutes, Year 10 - 5 minutes, Year 11 - 6 minutes, Year 12, 13 - 2000 metres.
  3. All races will be straight finals, i.e. row only once in the individual categories. Some categories will involve several races.
  4. All races must be completed to attain a time - no split scores will be allowed.
  5. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second and third in all categories.
  6. Sprint Relay - 4 person, 2000m total - relay is open to either a team of 4 boys or a team of 4 girls as long as they are in school year 7, 8, 9 or 10. The event is over 2000 metres and each person must row at least twice. Team coach to decide the distance each member of the team rows for.
  7. Boat Race Relay - 8 person, 6780m total - relay is open to either a team of 8 boys or a team of 8 girls as long as they are in school year 10, 11, 12 or 13. The event is over 6780 metres and each person must row at least twice. Team coach to decide the distance each member of the team rows for.
  8. In all relay events anyone can hold the straps onto the feet - they do not have to be part of the rowing team.

Race Regulations

  • Entries must be on official entry form. Photocopies will be accepted. All entries completed correctly will be entitled to race. Cheques to be made payable to 'LONDON YOUTH'.
  • Entries to be posted to: Matt Rostron, London Regatta Centre, Dockside Road, London. E16 2QT or faxed to 0207-474-3333.
  • An entry will not be included into the draw until the correct payment has been received.
  • It may be necessary to contact you if any clarification is required - please ensure you have included a day time contact number.
  • By entering the Championships, a competitor agrees to be bound by the rules.
  • All entry instructions form part of the rules.
  • The organisers reserve the right to limit the size of the entry.
  • Race entry confirmation, race schedule and directions to the venue will be available on the website www.londonyouthrowing.com click NJIRC2007 button on or after the 16th March. Directions to the venue and other details are available now.
  • The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
