After 3 years of great success running the indoor rowing event at the London Youth Games, LYR has been asked to stage the on the water regatta too. With significant support from Thames Water, the on the water regatta will be a full point scoring event in 2009.
It began in 2006 when LYR was asked to run ‘Indoor Rowing’ as a development sport. We staged seven development events in local areas and attracted 15 boroughs to the competition. In the last two year, 26 – 28 boroughs out of a possible 33 have competed annually.
In 2008 we ran the on water Regatta development event. We are thrilled to say that it too has been recognised as a full point scoring event.
The Indoor Rowing event will be held on the 5th July at the Crystal Palace Finals weekend and the Rowing Regatta will be on the 13th June at the London Regatta Centre.
