On November 20th, 21st and 22nd, LYR played host to over 1400 young people at our stand at Skills London 2008.

With support from London First, LYR staged the biggest ‘taster event’ of the year. Placed in the centre of the whole exhibition, next to West Ham Football Club, LYR’s stand drew the crowds for 3 days solid. The event at London’s Excel Centre, was a great way for young people to look into possible future careers, and judging by the numbers of people who were interested in our stand, there could be lots of sports coaches in East London in the future!

LYR had 15 Concept 2 indoor rowing machines and invited young people to turn up and have a go. We were completely inundated with 1468 young people from across Greater London taking part, some coming back over and over!

Participants were ranked against the National Governing Body Gold Standard rate based on their age group and were awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold awards depending on their scores.
